For Everyone
Accessibility Statement
Al Safa International University’s commitment to a website that everyone can use, including people with disabilities.
Our reference standard
This website is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 2.2 at Level AA, with ongoing review as new content is added.
What is actually implemented
- A “Skip to main content” link appearing on the first Tab keypress on every page.
- Full keyboard navigation — dropdown menus operate through
focus-withinwithout needing a mouse. - A clear focus state — a 3-pixel gold outline around whichever element holds focus.
- Colour contrast meeting the minimum required for both normal and large text.
- Correct heading structure — one H1 per page and a logical order for the remaining headings.
- Alternative text for every image, and
aria-labeldescriptions for graphical elements. - Accessible forms — every field has an associated label and guidance text, with required fields marked in text rather than by colour alone.
- No reliance on colour alone to convey any information.
- Respect for
prefers-reduced-motion— all motion and transitions stop for those who prefer reduced motion. - High-contrast support through
prefers-contrast. - Comfortable touch targets — buttons and input fields are never less than 48 pixels tall.
- Text that scales without loss of content or horizontal scrolling.
- Correct direction — full right-to-left support with arrows and spacing adjusted accordingly.
Known limitations
- Uploaded PDF documents may not all be prepared for screen readers. Where an accessible version of a document is needed, it can be requested and we will provide it.
- Content added later by site editors depends on their adding alternative text for images — a step set out in the internal publishing guide.
